Perfect printing results with borderless A6 format

Why Bleed is Important

All our postcards are printed and sent borderless in A6 format (148 mm × 105 mm). To achieve a perfect borderless result and avoid unsightly white edges, we require a so-called bleed area (trim allowance).

How Trimming Works

With borderless printing, your postcard is first printed on a larger sheet and then trimmed to the exact A6 format. This involves cutting off 3 mm on each side.

A6 (148 × 105 mm / 5.83" × 4.13") + 2 × 3 mm (0.12") Bleed = 154 × 111 mm (6.06" × 4.37")
⚠️ Important to note:

Place important content such as text, logos, or faces at least 5-8 mm away from the edge (safety distance). The bleed area is only intended for background colors and images that should reach the very edge.

Our Recommendation

Always upload your postcard data with the following specifications:

  • Dimensions: 154 mm × 111 mm (1819 × 1311 px @ 300 dpi)
  • Resolution: At least 300 DPI for best print quality
  • Color Mode: CMYK recommended (RGB will be automatically converted)
  • File Format: PDF, JPG or PNG
  • Safety Distance: At least 5-8 mm (approx. 60-95 px @ 300 dpi) from the edge

Avoid Common Mistakes

White Edges: Occur when the design does not extend into the bleed area. Solution: Always pull backgrounds and images to the outer edge (154×111mm).

Cut-off Text: Occurs when text is placed too close to the edge. Solution: Maintain at least 5-8 mm distance from the trim line.

IMAGE 3: Before/After Comparison Description for the image: Two postcards side by side:

LEFT - "Wrong ❌":
- Image ends exactly at 148×105mm (white edges visible at the margins)
- Text is too close to the edge and partially cut off
- Red markers show problem areas

RIGHT - "Correct ✓":
- Image goes to 154×111mm (no white border)
- Text with sufficient safety distance
- Green markers show correct areas
